Hello guys.

i have recently upgraded my PC (E8400, 2GB, 250GB HDD etc). and its been a long time since I've home built my own system (I've ordered my parts from various different places to save money)

 anyways my query:

I have an ASUS-EN9800GTX which has 2 auxiliary power connectors, do i connect both of them up to my PSU or do i just connect the one? would connecting both of them damage my GFX card? (might sound like a newb question i know but advice will be appreciated :))

thank you in advance.

connect both as stated above. they there to supply the card with extra power, if you connect 1 you might find that the card just won't start up, or when you just start playing a game, the system will crash, resulting in nothing nice. if there's 2 connectors that means your card is consuming 150 watts +

oh im being silly :)

my GPU card requires 26A on a 12V rail. But i read somewhere that the current ATX12V spec does not allow for more than 20A on a 12V rail (I'm not sure if this is true). my 550W PSU outputs 18A on the 12V rail, so putting in 2 auxiliary(12V) outputs make perfect sense now

no reason in particular. i guess the "best" option would be to go for one of the HD4000s (price/perfomance ratio etc)

but I'm a bit of an nVidia fanboy

How are you finding the GTX out of interest? I almost went for it and then decided to change the system completely at the last minute and ended up with the GX2. On the auxiliary power side... Is it using a 6 and and 8 pin? The GX2 uses two 8 pins and it was a god damn nightmare finding a PSU for that reason alone.

it uses 2 six pins

luckily tho the GFX card came boxed with a 6 pin -> 4 pin converter (Asus ftw)

cannot comment on how happy i am with my gfx card yet, i spent today installing important software (OS/apps/drivers). i upgraded from a AMD 3400+ 6600GT system. so i cant wait to test my machines gaming performance.

what make is your GX2 may i ask?
