I have a friend who needs to go see a Psychologist.
She is in Cape Town and the Psychologist would also need to be in Cape Town.

Can anyone recommend someone good please.

If you would prefer, you can PM me the details.

Thanks peepz!

Dankie boet ;)

Any others?

Specifically, ones that, you may have gone to yourself and can recommend.

Lol, nha sorry im based in G'tang.

Phone up the medical board around there and ask for any recommendations for a Psychologist.

Or go to a nice hospital and ask which Psycologists they use......

What does your friend want to see the doc about if I might ask?

I think the best idea is to get a referral from their GP... they'll know what kind of psychologist they need as well.

If there's some reason they can't do that, PM me. What part of Cape Town?

Valid question - as some specialise in bits and bobs ... while others may just specialise in either bits or bobs ... one never knows

Agggggg skrew the DOC let her log on to mybb and explain it here then we will all give our EXPERT advice on the matter. Much cheaper

Thats what i do with my "ISSUES" ;)

Same, but she needs to deal with it in her own way as I as her friend can only do so much.

If she works at a company then lots of companies have contact that can be made via the HR department and remain anonymous.

You need a relationship councilor :D

Phone Life Line, they will give you some names.

She wants the name of someone good? Doesn't matter who she sees. Talk to the psychologist, ask how s/he works, and after the first or 2nd session decide whether she want to continue with him/her.

She does not have to be stuck with someone. You can change psychologists! If the psychologist gets offended by that, well, then they themselves should see a psychologist.

That sounds a bit excessive. I think the med aid rate is R450 per session; often they'll reduce that for you if you really can't afford it but do need the help.

Psychiatrists' fees are determined by the Medical Association of South Africa, MASA. Some psychiatrists will agree to work according to these fees whereas others may charge more and some may even charge less, for instance if clients will agree to a cash per session payment. For the year 2003 MASA rates were R544.30 per 60 minutes session. Like all other fees, these would increase annually; it is wise to budget for at least 10% increase in rates.

A bit old, but if 10% suggested increase is applied since 2003 you'd be looking at R796.90 give or take.

Mate of mine was charged around that for anxiety attack treatment

love iv been to so many psychologists and u can see how that helped me...

personally i think the psychologist thing only works if u dont actually know their tricks.

the best for her, depending on her personality, is probably group therapy. i found it the best and the people were friendly and u never have to see them again after all the groups ^^ unless u want to.
