Because it was premeditated and they always go for the higher crime.
Bam is a decent Judge and hopefully the correct justice will be served.
I feel for the shooter and don't like bullies and someone, be it the school or parent should have picked up on this before it went this far.

He's already being bullied. You want him to go cry to mommy and have her make a scene at school? How do you think they'd treat him after that?
 
Pupil allegedly guns down bully. The criminal case is about the incident and not whether or not the victim was a bully, whatever that may be.

The victim being a bully is/was clearly a factor in the court's decision to opt for a non-custodial sentence.

Well I would like for my child to come me if he is being bullied. I think it's how one is raised but I won't know till my child crosses that path. Yes I am being very hopeful.

Just tell your child to come to you when bullied. If your relationship is close and one of trust, no doubt your child will take your advice over any BS culture and school idiots tell him or her.

Problem with school or at least public school is that you end up mixing with idiots. You run shoulders with future criminals and people of different moral systems - raised in such a way. Kids often, more likely than not, will pick up bad habits in school.
