Push One Now - Spam Call - How to stop?

My spammer friends were active this week.

You need to refresh it every so often though which is usually apparent as the spam suddenly starts to ramp up.
I do it every year to ensure all my sim's are covered and still on the system. It took about 3 years initially to get 99% of the calls to stop. Mostly I get calls and sms's on newly activated sim's because of the previous person who had the number. Especially people who defaulted on finance.

Oh well 8 more weeks and then I'm out of SA for good. Lucky for the people who get recycled my numbers.

Yep. just had to renew it last month as I suddenly started getting marketing calls from some debt counselling provider from a 021 number, which has now stopped again.

Just leave the call active. They are probably on some "unlimited" call plan. But it ties up that line for a long time so that they can't harass someone else. I once left a call active from over 45 minutes. I just muted my mic. Bet I saved at least 30 other people getting called. Same reason those guys harass those scam call centres in India. Keep them on a call for more than 30 minutes and that is a few less people getting scammed.

Sometimes those robocalls don't connect till you say something. So I wait about 5 seconds then say hello.
That causes network congestion in the telephone network.
In the good old days, we would have been on to you pretty quickly and would have terminated the call for you and you would have received a warning letter, which we knew would be delivered.

I do the same, but you need to sometimes say hallo once, otherwise they just drop the call. Then you just mute mic and stay quiet. Also had one going on for about 30min, hearing in the background how everyone is laughing, a manager coming into the room shouting at them, then everyone went back doing their call thing.... was freaking funny.

I stopped using True Caller ID and I seem to get way fewer spam calls. In fact, really hardly any.

These calls come from all over the place.
On my wife's number she received a continuous stream of these calls for two weeks. 011 XXX xxxx.
We finally answered one of them and it was from ABSA.
A campaign to con people in to increasing their CC limits.
We informed the operator that we have listed all the numbers in a harassment complaint.

Have done that. They just say sorry and continue. They couldn't care what you say. Absa's spam department is nothing but a Harassment Centre.
Sounds like typical ABSA behaviour ...

Then all you do is keep them on the line for as long as possible. basically waste their time if you are not doing anything to important. Ask lots of general questions and as them to repeat things a few times because you have a bad line or you don't fully understand. Get them to make the hard sell and for them to waste your time selling up. When you have had enough just drop the call
