Push Ups & Pull Ups

I just tried now and can still do 40 push-ups.
Last 10 took some effort but got there. :o

When I was still at school I used to do all these core exercises and it really kept me fit. I did not build muscles with it. Just more defined muscles. Then I just stopped and never bothered to start again.

Something that really worked for me was doing 10 push-ups, sprint to the other side of the yard then do 10 Jumping Jacks(squat all the way to the bottom and then jump and reach for the sky as high as you can). Then sprint back and do push-ups again. You'll get fit in no time.

I think I will actually start training again tonight. Thanks Pooky.

Pick up the dog poo before u start. ;)

They are a nice filler for those moments everyone seems to be hogging the equipment at gym :)

I do different sit-ups everytime I workout now as well. Chin-ups feel like they are working much more than just my back too so it's all good. But I think it's wise to try a little bit of everything without working your body into a routine it adjusts to.

Does your hands facing backwards or forward during pull ups make any difference?
Back in school it felt as if backwards was easier.

Good question I'd say. If you're fairly light/small, getting big may take a little more effort ie bulking up (carbs). It also depends on how you do those excercises.
Diamond pushups (hands close together with index fingers and thumbs touching each other) are good for Triceps. The wider you go, the more you incorporate pecs.

Pull ups can also be dependant on grip. Close grip will work your back, but will also work your biceps. The wider you go, the more you incorporate lats.

There's also a decent amount of excercises you can do for legs. Sprint Lunges, Air Squats, Burpee's.... and of course, calf raises :)

you will not get ripped through weightless exercise pooky, i'm sorry to break it to you. if you want to maintain health it's fine but you need weights.

Load of crap.... I have a mate who has no gym membership. He does a few hundred push ups and sit ups a day. I can tell you his abs are ripped!

I am gonna try those burpees tonight, need something to strengthen my tummy.

Try and do planks. They'll hurt a lot at first but trust me, they are quite effective.

It's basically like a push up, except you don't bend your elbow. Instead you bend your arm at 90 degrees. I feel a bit dead afterwards but that's probably because I've focused on cardio exercises most of my life
