Q6600 or Q9300

Hi guys,

Could some of you help me out with deciding on a new system from PcZone.
It isn't for gaming, but I use a number of really intensive applications that require a powerful Pc.

1- They have the Q6600 at R3999, while the Q9300 is R4599. (edit: this is for an entire system, not the cpu alone)
Is it worth the extra R600 and how are the reviews on it?

2- How is the Aopen 400W Chassis with Thermoreader?
I will be running 4 HDD's so will probably need around a 600w PSU. What would be a good, decently priced case?

3- Any good, decently priced fans that I should get?

I already have a graphics card, as well as a monitor, so expecting to spend around R5000-R5500 including R200 for the HDD upgrade from 250gb to 500gb.

Sorry, I should have expressed myself clearly.

The price is for an entire system, including 2 gb ram, G31 mb, DVD writer etc.

I'd go for the Q6600 with bigger cache for less. Also easily OCable on stock cooling if you're into a bit of tinkering. The 100MHz increase in the Q9300 is not really worth it IMO.

Also, depending on your graphics card, a 400watt PSU will suffice. 3.5" hard drives use ±12watts at load. But maybe with the Rs you save if you go with the Q6600, buy a decent brand 450watt PSU with a good guarantee i.e. Antec, CoolerMaster, Corsair etc. So unless you're using a beast of a graphics card, you really won't need a bigger PSU.

A nice case is the CoolerMaster CM690 at around R700. I think it'll have enough fans and airflow. ;)

3999 for a q6600 and 4.5k for a q9300 OMFS thats flippin crazy.
 
Yes, you may customise the system to your heart's content
 
I thought you could customise everything except the case and mobo, this just makes is so much better :D

I read up on it and it seems really good, but seem to have found some variations in the models and huge differences in prices.

All the CM/Stacker 690s listed above are the same, although technically I don't think they should be called Stackers. If you look at the product pictures you will notice that they're the same. The one with the windowed side panel is the same, except with a transparent side window. The Nvidia edition is just a different colour, perhaps with a few other differences but essentially still the same case I'd imagine.

Go for the cheapest CM/Stacker 690 you can find.

I'd probably be able to give you the best price, but courier costs will be a lot... R150 - R200 I'd imagine. Perhaps if you went with a well-established company like Prophecy, courier costs would be less.
