I ordered (and subsequently put on back order)my Q9450 on 11th Feb 08.
This has been the most painful wait to fix my faulty D940 setup.
I wanted to future proof a bit, researched the Penryns and thought it would be a great idea to go this way. The wait is getting rediculous now though...sheesh.

So does anyone know when Stock will arrive in South Africa?

I've been reading peoples reviews all over the world - America, UK, Singapore, Autralia etc. I believe i made the right choice for what I do with my PC. But the wait is killing me now.....

Anyone in the Supply chain know???

GRRR man GRRR (Yes, I can use GRRR since I belong to GRRR - registered trademark n all that)

just got a email from frontosa, they have for R3100 excl.

thats how much i spent on mine... but i'm still waiting.
Brawler, did Frontosa say they had it in stock?

if they send an email they have stock man

yes but did you buy it direct? if not then you'll wait longer because no company is going to sell stuff at cost which means they not getting it from frontosa

frontosa have been getting very expensive of late something that im not enjoying

used to get a great place for cheap items and items nobody else stocked now they are just expensive

I bought mine from ngrcomputers.co.za, don't know if he's an importer or a reseller... His price has jumped up to R3450 - so my back order saves me R350, plus added shipping costs.... So I can smile a bit, but still have to wait... eish man eish.
Feel like i'm getting akker'd (inside joke)

thats not a good thing leelo, reason being this company wont want to lose money meaning they will keep saying they have no stock until you cancel the order

if i was you i would phone and ask if you can cancel because no company wants to take a loss

but who knows maybe they will ship it to you and make a loss

Well, I've been assured that I'm being looked after and I do trust the NGR dood, so I'm not gonna panic, just that it sucks living at the bottom of the world with supply of PC stuff.
We're kept in the dark by power outages, we're kept in the dark about arrival of international stock. Someone needs to shine a light for our country, we are after all the closest you're gonna get to 1st world in Africa. Besides we have most of the Big Guns in IT dotted around our Nation even the likes of AMD, Microsft and Gwoogle, surely we are of some importance. Anyway - I really really really want my processor, my machine is almost completely dead and I have a lot of projects to complete, which I cannot do with my dying beastlet.

This chip will fianlly complete my almost 25 grand so far build. I can't wait to plug this in, power up, and be happy with my pc for the next 4 or so years.

@ killadoob

There's quite a big difference between this chip and the q9300. I was all set on the q9300 before I understood the differences, and how the q9300 is a bit of a "crippled" chip.

Hopefully I can get this chip after payday directly through a contact who gets from Axiz. We'll see how pricing goes by the end of the month and after salary lol

I think I’m an addictive personality; I may have scratched a hole in my table from the itching and I’m gnawing the monitor as we speak, all this just from the persistent waiting for the chip. As each day passes, the itch gets stronger and I find more and more innocent items are falling victim to my incessant fidgeting. Do I have a problem, do I need to seek help. No, I just need the chip.

nope - more waiting, I'm on to my colleagues desk now, but the coffee stain looks tasty, so why complain.
I guess we should assume SA will get it at the end of April… Maybe I could check myself into an asylum till then. But nobody knows, nor it seems, will ever know – until it physically arrives in from of someone who can recognize it.
