Ive got one on these on back order as well, with another company. Apparently the one's available at the moment are tray versions, I have been offered one - but it is more expensive than the boxed one I have ordered! Ive been told that they are arriving around the 20th, so will rather wait! Is this the one you are talking about, and why are they more expensive? (R400 more in fact)!

Who has the boxed one's in stock? Ive tried all the online stores, only trays?
 
zackly - i'll be tossing the box and fan anyway for my thermalright 120 ultra extreme.
If they just sent me a tray item, i'd be happy - the box and fan are useless to me...
 
For some reason the tray (OEM) is more expensive then the Retail boxed one at the moment.
 
I also found it weird that the Tray version is more expensive than the Boxed version ????

I am looking for the same CPU to get my 20K machine in order as well. Can only find Tray versions online at insane prices - my suppliers reckon end of April. Axiz has a grand total of about 4 Core 2 CPU's on their dealer prices & the divvy girl I spoke to in sales says she doesn't think they will be getting more in, if the items have fallen off the pricelist. I reckon she should find another job.

Dammit...
 
well, still no stock, I'm out of town for a few days, crossin fingers that when i get back it'll be there.... won't hold my breath tho....eish so much of waiting
 
Hmmmm....the problem is those Trays from Frontosa are so much more expensive!

Ive got a pre-order with 7 different stores, waiting to see who will get it first....most are only willing to offer the Tray...but at like R400 more...and then I still need to buy a fan....for me waiting for the box is more worthwhile!

Plus, ive ordered stock that came from a store that bought from Frontosa - Frontosa's support and warranty is disgusting. 6 months later they still could not find a parcel that was couriered to them and signed for, after they suggested I ship the faulty component to them....and then over 4 months to swap out the faulty component. Would not touch them with a 500 foot pole!

I have asked my contact at my work to get a quote from Axiz tomorrow, but I have a feeling it's going to come out as "Out of stock"

I really want this processor now, I need to finish my system already. I can't afford the tray version at the moment, even though it's actually better suited for me so that I don't have a wasted HSF.

Here's hoping they have stock :p
 
Finally got word back from my contact. The chip will only be available through Axiz in like Mid June. Guess Intel is really struggling to make this chip to meet demand or something. :(

I can't believe how long this is taking, how can it be so hard to get a mainstream cost effective and really good chip into this country???
 
I've send one last week to a mate of mine in SA. Worked out R3750 incl vat and postage
 
My processor was shipped this morning - w00t, should have it soon!

So I guess I saved a lot - R3100 vs R3750 = R650 - naas, I can buy Jonny Walker Malt Blue with my savings.... :D
