QNAP drive bay key

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I have a dumb issue at one of my customers. A previous IT company locked all the drive bays in their QNAP NAS (even the empty ones!). One of the drives failed, and we promptly ordered a new drive and tried to install it.

We tried in vein to find the key, and even tried other keys from Dell and HP, none of them worked.
Then we tried the McGuyver way of heating a pen cap and try to jiggle the locks open, to no avail.

Is there anyone in the JHB area who happen to have a QNAP key we can borrow for a day? From QNAP forums we learned the keys are universal.

The only distis in SA for QNAP are Pinnacle and Correx. Neither of them stock the keys, and their RMA departments can't seem to find a spare laying around.

Please help a fellow IT Laaitie out!
 
If all else fail, try using a circlip plier to turn the lock loose.
I have had mixed success on various locked bays.

I got Synology ones on hand. Not sure if they use the same type.
I can organise QNAP ones if I need to.
Also those Disti's generally wont help you out with this kind of stuff.
