QNAP NAS power brick? Where?

Hi guys

Big midnight storm in PTA last night has knocked out a few of my gadgets. One of them that doesn't switch on now is my QNAP TS-410 NAS. Thing is, the power brick's light doesn't come on so I'm not sure if that is dead or if my NAS took a hit as well.

Where can I find/buy/borrow a working power brick for a QNAP NAS to test if my actual NAS box is dead too?

If you have a multimeter you can test the output voltage of the brick (carefully, don't short it out). Check the specifications on the output and check if you have that voltage in the pins.

Look at the specifications (voltage and power) on the power brick and try and find one with the same output voltage and same or greater power output (mA or A, or Watts) and try that. You may also have an issue with the connector type used.

If the light does not come on it's probably fried. Did you try disconnecting the brick from the box to see if the light comes on?

Well the light on the brick is off irrespective of whether its connected to the NAS or not. So I'm HOPING its just the brick that's dead.

So I basically just need to find another one that has the same voltage and amperage reading?

The connector that goes from the brick to the NAS isn't a standard connection. Looks like a PS/2 type connector.

Try Pinnacle Micro, or Pinnacle Africa as they're called now. They do QNAP nas units.

Ok now I'm desperate. Does anyone with a QNAP NAS have a power brick that they're willing to lend me just to test if my NAS is still alive?

I'm in PTA/JHB...
