I see I just posted the initial video about the focus. Here is the comparison vid I'm talking about above.

Off topic but MSB is my absolute favourite photographer. Guy is a master.

Anyway, the hard choice for me now is upgrading DSLR kit or buy a drone

This from Michael's website... regarding the other issue he picked up in the video.

So after speaking with someone at DJI, the color shift is due to using the pre-release beta model of the drone and the camera/software not yet being fully aligned. This should not be a problem in the full Mavic release.

Do both - it's the reason why we carry credit cards around :D

Or do neither... that's why we get married and have kids :D

Anyone interested in Humanitarian work and UAV's / robotics should follow Patrick Meier's blog

Also, ICTWorks had an interesting article on the Humanitarian UAV Network code of conduct here

Did anyone get a Drone from the Wechat special?

Good price but the wifi controller connection just seemed a bit suspect, too much of a compromise.

P4 and Mavic comparison. Very well made and in depth.

And the consensus on the image quality between the 2?
Seen a few more videos from the Mavic from various sources and the image definitely isn't to hawt, well relative to the phantom, sad.

Both equally very good. It most instances it seems user error is to blame for MPro's bad rep.

But how can user error possibly get the focus wrong, at the distances a Drone focuses typically everything is focused at infinity/in focus, there is no room for user error?

Seems like you haven't watched the videos in this thread...

I didn't in the end. Mainly because of the firmware bug dji refusing to acknowledge or fix.

To be fair he can loose or break anything.

I disagree about the losing... He seems extremely organised, in his own weird way. Breaking stuff all the time though.
I think the whole rough house technique with his equipment is part of the show, it's a bit gratuitous though. After watching him for a while it still bothers me when he throws a brand new camera or lens onto a table or breaks a lens clean off the body as if it's nothing, it's a bit like the rich twat that sprays a R10k bottle of champagne all over the place and its not even a special occasion.

A craftsman respects and cares for his tools..
