Question about 8mbps

There might still be some "paper wire" out there but it is not carrying any traffic. It is too expensive to recover so they just cut the ends and leave it in the ground (dead)!

Pfft, people don't believe that, they believe in evil :D

I only saw 'paper wire' once and it was internal wiring in a building that was decommissioned.

there is no such thing as 'paper wire'. paper in literal terms is derived from wood which is not a good conductor of anything really

Old Telkom cable had multi stranded copper that was covered/sheathed in paper like wrapping. I remember seeing a cable that was ripped up due to roadworks. That was many years ago though. Not too sure if Telkom would still be using that type of cable today though. The whole bunch was incased in a lead/tar outer casing. ;)

i'm sure my cable is encased with lead/tar have to check :P

cause we havent had any telkom people check our cables yet we get interference and noise problems could this be caused by paper wire?

not always it could be the patch box on the pole or in the street that have got some water in it or the cable i depends...

so how do i get telkom to check had so many techicians come and they dont want to check those things you said

make you modem dc then u can tell them you line drops the whole time and when the techi comes ask him to patch u 2 an different pair of cable's

just unplug the tel line and pug it in again then it will show as an line drop, i did it and after that problem solved they it was so good that an 56k modem connected 64k on the line he he
