questionns about oil,

Dont complicate your life. Its a stock standard picanto.Just use the recommended grade of oil that the service manual says.

question is is there a difference in brands? and is it a bad idea to use from 2 different sources?
I mean isnt it really important that you use the correct one?

of course not, Im not that blond.....

my hair is actually black... and Im a guy so I can fix a server I can fix this.....

We have IT guys that we outsource to. Truth be told... Despite them being able to "fix a server" most of them I wouldn't trust changing a toilet roll at my house. As for the blonde vs black argument: moot point. Its a proven scientific fact that hair color has no bearing on intelligence. One of the sharpest guys on myBB has blonde hair. Hell... He's even posting on THIS thread. :D

phone the dealership and ask them what brand of oil they using.Brand shouldnt make much of a difference , as long as its the same grade.Personally i wouldnt mix the brands even if its the same grade of oil.

The oil grade will be in your manual.
Watch a Youtube clip of someone doing it on the same car as yours. I've done many things on my car after watching a Youtube clip it also helps you know where everything is at least.

Watched a oil test on youtube a while ago. They put Castrol EDGE up against BMW oil. Two glass test tube things were used and both was heated to a very high temp over a period of hours I think. Castrol came out tops. After the test, the BMW oil baked a hard carbon like residue onto the glass. The Castrol had almost none. Not sure how scientific such a test is though.

okay okay, Im useless with changing oil, but I know how to use a wrench, and I can watch somebody else doing it correctly....
and I always thought hair colour has a lot on the meaning of intelligence, although its hard to tell sometimes if somebody hair is dyed....

and if I had the correct size wrench Id do it myself.... but yes I should get a pro to help me....

You really don't need a pro. If you simply want to change your oil it's as simple as letting the old oil out of the drain hole and then refilling(change the filter - screw off, screw on).

It's no harder than installing a graphics card it's just the dirt that I don't like.

Edit: If i wasn't clear, change the filter after draining.

Aint you supposed to do a engine flush first, then let the old oil out, and then put in the new oil?

Not always. Depends on the condition of the engine.
My ancient ml benefited enormously from a flush.

Remember there is probably a crush washer on the drain plug.
Replace it.

Not needed at 100k. I also don't like to flush high mileage engines(I have a 300k one) sometimes the build up gunk actually helps the seals seal better.

Oil usage dropped dramatically after the flush on mine. I think the oil control rings were carboned up.

Ymmv.

When you say dropped does that mean it still burns oil just less now?

My car used a bit of oil before I had the oil change done. I every now and again had to top up with oil myself. After the oil change the level is staying where it is. I did check for leaks but could not find any. Did not even leave spots in the garage or anything. I dont know if the mechanic did a flush on mine, but the levels are staying put since the oil change.
