questionns about oil,

I haven't had to top it up since I serviced it.
Used to do about 500ml every 1000km.
Serviced 2000km ago.
 
whats a flush? just out of interest?

is it replacing all the coolant inside the engine? isnt that dangerous as you need to have the engine running?

Not the coolant. That is a radiator flush (but even then you dont run the car with nothing in the cooling system. I believe with a engine flush you use a flush liquid that you buy, pour it into the oil an then let the car idle for 10 minutes or so. Makes the oil very runny and gets the gunk out. Then when that is drained you put in fresh new oil. That is how I understand it.

It's something you add to the oil and then let the engine warm up, then drain immediately.

Not the same as a coolant flush, which you do with a cold engine,turned off.

OOO vader!! Are you hell bend on killing yourself in the process? No we're talking about using a chemical to flush out all the oil and gunk before you refill the oil again. Like using sunlight liquid to clean your dirty dishes instead of just running some new water over it.

No mine doesn't smoke at all I've asked many people to look while I rev or go up a hill. But it does burn some oil, can't find a leak.

I did a flush once on a car with more than 400k on the clock and it started to consume oil after the flush when it never did before. It wasn't a lot but still. That's why i'm not a big fan of flushing.

It all depends really. It can be good or bad for an engine depending on its condition. You wouldn't flush an old frail engine and you wouldn't flush a brand new one. It's just a detergent some oils have their own detergent that's suppose to help as well. It's definitely not required it's optional.

thanks, good to know, I think Ill skip as I almost never use any oil and if it aint broke dont fix it....

but isnt it if the oil is very thick you have to use this to get all the oil out?
or if its in deepest siberia and that oil flows slowly you have to do this...

Oil would be thin in anycase after you've broken all the chains in the oil with heat and friction for 15000km. The new oil should be thicker
