'Quick hit' power plan for SA

What are these chops going to do about pre-paid users ??

Also how are they going to monitor and penalise/incentivise sectional title schemes which pay in bulk for the estate and each unit does not have an individual meter?

Consider: I have a small office - 10 staff.
Quotas come into effect.
I get an opportunity to bid to a new potential client.
Requires me to hire two more people.
Do I then need to factor in the "quota" for two new workstations?

This quota idea is STUPID beyond STUPID.
It may work for a place like Brazil that had it for a few months - but for 5+ years?

Someone needs to climb back up the stupid tree and stay there.

I don't think they have a stupid tree big enough for all the morons involved in this situation... :(

I'm seriously SERIOUSLY p!ssed off now....

Erwin might have another thing coming if he thinks all citizens and business are going to roll over and take this lightly....

Until the cut supply to other countries, I think MANY people will fight them tooth and nail.

Yeah, absolute morons. Cut off all power to neighbouring countries immediately and immediately cancel all planned future aluminium smelters etc. for the next 10 years. Even that won't help much.

Its typical of this government with all their socialist leanings, now we're embracing the plans used by fscking Cuba, is that how low we've sunk? Watch there'll probably be a shortage of refined fuel once everyone starts buying generators, there was already a gas shortage last year.

Here's the direct link to the press release btw:

leaving this country is becoming more and more appealing ....
here they have businesses willing to supply well in excess of the shortfall that they claim they have .... but they don't want it .. cause eskom want to have the monopoly ... and for their monopoly ... we now have to pay extra and suffer with rations of electricity .... this is totally ridiculous .... my only hope is that the municipalities wake up and get the businesses to supply them with the electricity direct and kick out eskom !!!

Erwin needs to pull his finger out his butt and stick it into the nearest wall socket.

Dumba$$

/end rant

Oh wait nothing will happen.:eek::rolleyes:

the actual statement made would seem to dispel that

Pay out? What dream world are you living in? "Eish, we will credit you."
"Erm, but its R40 000!"
"Rules is rules, sir."

Of course on the plus side no electricity needs to be paid for at least 5 years :D

5 years - hold that thought until they announce the quotas and increases...

Bwaaahahahahahaha, they cannot even read electricity meters properly.
OMS, what a joke.

Teh governmint is speaking:
1 - We cannot plan properly.
2 - We do not react to the first warning signs.
3 - We simply refuse to clear up our existing internal waste and inefficiencies.
4 - We have picked a scapegoat and have apologized for our mistake, but we're still in the same position making even more mistakes.
5 - We are forcing Eskom to provide technological solutions which they must source and manage, while at the same time, we will manage and source these same solutions for profit.
6 - We will not let you underlings provide electricity for your block, that is illegal, we will lock you up, and make sure you never get a trial.
7 - We will support big business that consumes the lions share of the electricity, and punish the citizens, so that our friends companies can continue to rake in massive profits.
8 - We will IRON fist anybody that dares to even think of thinking.

Bah, Governmint, you are worthless, unimaginative and quite franky, you are not serving your populace.

Outside my office is 10 brand new Opel Corsa's (with mags), SPONSORED BY CITY POWER JHB, belonging to a CENTURION BASED security company.

They sit back and rape us, laugh at us and IRON FIST us.

This thread makes me think about this.:eek::confused:

Meh, I'm off to burn down a few power stations in protest of the lack of power stations. Its a South African tradition.:D

Cabinet has resolved not to authorise any new capital investment initiatives that require a lot of electricity.

Now they are going to stop development?

Thought that they were not going to stop:

"There's no question of stopping contracted projects or freezing any new projects," said Erwin.

If anything, he is confident that plans to step up the build programme is good news for growth and job creation.
