Hi there

Is it possible to build a Gaming system for R5K-R6K gaming system that can play games at a reasonable framerates. Was looking at the following at http://www.vtechnologies.co.za/

Intel H55 Tom ccove
i3 530
Apogee GT Blazer DDR3 1600MHz memory
Twintech GTX460 768MB
Samsung 500GB HDD
Aerocool VX-R case
Aerocool ultimate gaming 600w psu

Total price is R5749.78incl vat. So what can I do to make it a bit cheaper. BTW this is for one of my friends Girlfriend.

she already have a Screen o and you can add about R200 for a DVD Writer

Hmm, that quote isn't bad, but it isn't brilliant either. I have absolutely no idea how well those Aerocool power supplies are made.
Also, it's not necessary to go for a bigger than 450W PSU with a Core i3 & GTX460 1GB card, unless the PSU is a piece of crap - which the Aerocool 600W PSU might be...
There's no need to go for DDR3 1600MHz either, especially on an entry level gaming PC.

Asus P7h55-M motherboard @ R914
Core i3 530 @ R927
Muskin Silverline 2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz 1.5V CL9 @ R722
Club3D Radeon 5770 OC 1GB @ R1700
CoolerMaster Elite 335 with 500W PSU @ R780
Seagate Barracude 500GB SATA 7200RPM @ R370
LG DVD-Writer SATA @ R200
Total: ~R5 600 (incl VAT & shipping, since Prophecy Shop will ship for free if your cart contents exceeds R1500 and you're within 50km of Major city center).

It would be worth it to spend R400 more on a GTX460 1GB instead, especially if she has a Full HD screen (1920x1080 resolution).

Depends on the game hey.

You may want to spend a bit extra on a amd 955 with a 800 buck mobo.

AMD Phenom II X4 965, 8MB, AM2+, 3.4GHZ L2 Cache Quad Core R 1 249 excl. R 1,423 incl.
ASUS AMD Socket AM3, AMD 785G, 5200MT/s, 4xDual DDR3 1800(O.C), Onboard VGA (HDMI), 1xPCI-x16(Hybrid CrossFire), 1xPCIx1, 2xPCI, 1xATA133, 5xSATA (Raid 0,1,10), 1x eSATA, Gbe Lan, 8ch-Sound HD, Max 12xUSB, 2xIEEE1394, microATX microATX R 725 excl. R 826 incl.

Might work out slighty more but worth the extra dosh if you want afford it. microATX

Geforce GTX 465 1GB DDR3, DVI,HDMI - Asus R 2 115 excl. R 2,411 incl.

Something along those lines.

Put in a grand more perhaps and you should pull it off :D

here is a link to the psu. http://www.vtechnologies.co.za/inde...tegory_id=32&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=109

cheapest one on the website

O and We want to organize her a pc so that she can LAN with us. She already owns a PS2 and PS3 so she don't need a console . she will not be convinced if the pc can't even run a game or if it's more than R6K the lower the better. I can Also get the Hard drive from SAHARA and that will also save up on some money.
