hmm, I installed mine, went in...first thing it says is "There is an update available please update"...I also notice there was no intro movie and it tends to check for an update every time you move around in the menu which takes a while each time

keep us posted. Going away for the weekend so will only be able to pick up a copy on Monday :(

Played the 1st 3 missions and seems like a lot more fun that cnc3, the acting in the videos can be terrible at times though but I suppose it gives it a less serious tone. I like the music as well :)

I lasted through about three or four missions, then decided it was getting too retarded. Could do with some 'strategy' - and dont think too much of the game engine either. The stupid video clips keep popping up - as if anyone cares hearing the latest enemy bitching. I dont recall red alert 2 being this childlike in its approach, some video clips then let you get on with it. Not impressed, I think EA have taken a great game franchise, and dumbed it down for 14 year old, I could well be wrong, Will try more tomorrow. So far, not worth the bux -

offf the host would be a day later ;) news servers are last in line to get stuff

well just installed it but no time to play :( got exams

I got bored with RA 3 after about 1 hour... going to give it another try tonight, but it didn't grab me to be honest.

it seems that EA have really dumbed it all down - I started trying the tutorials, but geez, talking tanks explaining 'what you have to do'?
If I wanted a kids game, I'd have looked for one.

I just jumped straight into playing, but the early levels I tried are totally no-brainer, and filled with constant blah-blah-blah of video clips on the side...

"I am the tough enemy, and I'M GOING TO GET YOU, HAHAHAHAHA!"
Then you kill them, and they say "Its not over yet, HAHAHAHA!"
*rolls eyes*

I was hoping for something more focused on gameplay and tactics - if I get any enthusiasm back, I'll try keep going - idly curious as to whether it gets properly complex, or whether it stays at this simplistic level, which seems to just require 'churn out whatever you're told to' and point at the enemy and kill them.

Like early on, there's battleships surrounding an island, so i grab whatever the female's name is, dive her into water and start sinking them - halfway through doing it, the video clips start telling me 'You can SINK ENEMY SHIPS by making your agent swim to them!' And I'm like halfway through doing it already...

Good grief...

re 'puter requirements - it runs fine on my laptop (AMD Athlon 64 x2, gig of ram, 1.8 ghz)

I didn't follow the RA 3 at all (design etc) and I'm happy I didn't... this game sucks! :( but ag, I own all the C&C's so I would've bought this one anyways.

Eish! Really having second thoughts about this game :( I normally don't really care for the cheesy campaigns. How is the Skirmish/Multiplayer?

I don't think its as bad as you guys are making it out to be, I mean sure its not as serious as the other cnc games but the game play is still fun imo

Gotta agree with S1ght there.... Look they have made an outright attempt to make it more cheesy.... more so than any other RA, but I still enjoy the game.

Like gdiza, I also own all the CNC's.... I'm not sorry I got this though.

I'm no harcore RTS guy, but I do love my RTS'. Playing on the harder difficulties is a good challenge for me....

Ive been enjoying the game quite a lot over the weekend. One must remember this is red alert and not the tiberium wars universe. It's supposed to be fun and not taken too serious. Who remembers yuri's braintanks? come on.

One thing that im finding very lacking at the moment is how there is not weird unit combos like you had in the previous one. Chrono ATV anyone?
The animations are done very nicely (tesla'd dolphins sprout a dolphin skeleton :P)

Russian is pretty nice(building que takes a while to get used to).
Americas building method is the old school 'click and wait to build" way of cnc.
japan has this irritating method of building into a packaged thing. then it comes out of the construction yard and you still have to tell it where to go :/
