Fact is, everyone is a racist in this country - some people just control themselves more than others. after a few decades it might pass but who knows...

everyone has their own view, but i'm curious why you came to that conclusion

sh*t the kid got what he deserved,regardless of race. Unfortunately many other people don't get their full punishment. Also because he was white made the whole situation worse.Like most of us know,people are killed everyday by lets say black people but it wont be regarded as racist but something else.

I do not believe the above statement to be accurate. And I will tell you why.

2 Reasons:

1. Modern SA, a white man can marry a black woman and live in peace. He and she are not racists.
2. White parents adopt black orphans. They cannot be racists.

Burglars are more likely to target the houses without expensive security, so the richest house is left, while the middle classes take the brunt.

True, but there are definite double standards here. Racial attacks by blacks on whites when they do occur, are not generally reported as such, but one such attack (or even comment) by a white on a black makes national headlines. The person in question, should be convicted for his crimes, in a fair and just way.

The article in question, assumed that whites were by nature, racist, and blacks are not. To me, that is unacceptable reporting, and is by nature little more than hate speech, by a white apologist, who has a massive chip on her shoulder.

You know what. When I was in matric, I had the same view. It didn't help to share it with my mates, who were sheep (let's face it).

1 - You're limiting the definition of criminals to thieves only.

2 - It's not just about gaining entry into a property that's the issue. It's about what takes place once they are inside. It's one thing to break into a property and steal, but it is another thing completely to rape the women, murder the men and make the kids watch. All in the name of re-addressing the past.

IMO what sometimes begins as a petty crime very often ends in more serious offences in this country, based on race. Hijackings that end in murder, muggings that end in rape, housebreakings that end in both etc.

Earlier in the thread you mentioned that some posters appear to be trying to justify this twits stupid actions, and I agree with you that that is totally wrong, but what you seem to miss is that you're coming across as being on the other end of the scale trying to justify the actions of criminals or at the very least, pulling the wool over your own eyes by denying the existence of black on white, racially motivated related crime...

i apologise, i didn't want to come across that way, i was trying to show people what the other end looks like

i came across a website called Stop Crime, Say Hello, and i've been reading some of the testimonies from the criminals and gangsters, and by reading the posts you realise that criminals are really people, not ony dark shadows lurking in the dark to cause you harm.

peopel do get robbed equally. i hear a lot of white people complain about being robbed, but i work with black co-workers that get robbed too, and they barely bring up the topic. and discrimination is discrimination, but when a guy pulls up into a drive way with a rolex on his wrist, you have a better chance of selling the car or the rolex than you do selling some poor guy's cellphone.

another thing that bothers me is that some people sympathise with Johan Nel. just becoz he has a heart wretching story doesn't mean what he did was any less wrong. it's not becoz he was a victim in itself, it was what he chose to do, and we have to show that we disaprove of evil, against anyone.

Some of my best friends are white

Murder is murder, last week some robbers got some nice community justice (A couple of hot klaps and kicks to the groin area) in Braamfontein. And I am guessing that It would have been labeled a racist attack, had a group of paler people bliksemd the muggers.

Fact is our people have a hectic past and trust is not really there. People got scars and we can go back to pre-94 thinking at the snap of a finger!
