Agree on your points DJK great points btw. I do think white males should stop sobbing in their hands though, the constitution protects everyone and you may also exercise your rights if you so please other than that fully agree with what u said.

Dude holds broom in spear-like fashion. Other dude says "nice-spear" and suddenly its both racist and belittling?

Methinks people have forgotten what being racist means. It means you treat people differently based on their race. Which is something different to being a racial supremacist(believing your race to be superior and therefore, other races inferior to yours).

Please explain how the dude was
a) being racist(there is absilutely no indication that he said something along the lines of 'blacks do this' or 'blacks do that' nor is there an indication that he treated the guy differently then he would have treated anybody else of any other race holding said broom in said fashion

b) belittling the cleaner. Exactly why was what he said demeaning? Cause he said it looked like a spear? So what? Thats not an insult.

I dont think OP is telling the whole story, but with the info provided, how are you guys coming to a "thats definitely racist" conclusion?

I honestly dont get it.

I took it as a given that the OP makes racist or otherwise offensive comments on a regular basis otherwise no company would have been able to fire him.... forgive me for assuming the obvious:confused:

Maybe the cleaner found the statement demeaning? We don't know for sure...

Maybe he thought it was a jibe at his manhood, here he is doing a rather arbitrary job as a cleaner and this whitey taking the piss out of him saying nice spear, like the closest you'll get to being a real warrior is with that mop of yours...

And this comes back to Piesangs repoire (sic) with the black, Afrikaans speaking worker, it's all about understanding and communicating...

Don't want to derail this into another AA debate which I have posted lengthy essays about in CA, but so long as the constitution determines your rights based on race and gender, it is flawed and does not protect equally. Have we not learned anything from our tarnished past?

Which is a completely different thing to being racist no? ie judging him differently to others based on the colour of his skin or demeaning him purely because he is black.

Every insult from a whitey to a black man and vice versa does not a racist incident make.
