Hi guys

So i got RAGE this w/e and im having mayor issues with the game.
I installed the game and it took agessss to finish so a uninstall is not an option.
The game didnt wanna start firstly giving me an error on windows sorted that out now im just getting a black screen with a green dot, I have also uninstalled the catilyst drivers and upgraded to the rage drivers, made a a cfg files, deleted the video folder. I have done so many things and i still dont get it resolved anyone else have the same issue ?

This is a very widely reported issue. It doesn't hurt to google it. The new Rage update has helped some people but they say they are aware of the problem and are working with Ati to resolve it.

Ghost i was everywhere dude i was on the steam forum yesterday i have tried alot of things and its just not working

I also got rage over the weekend, seriously considering taking it back if I can't get it working

Can get into the game, menus are smooth, as soon as I start playing I get 1-3 sec freezes... CPU usage at 100%, GPU usage at 0%

Rage optimized driver installed, 11.10 preview 2 installed, cache folder created...and I started fiddling with the rageConfig.cfg file last night - still freezing (It's so bad I can't look up and down for the camera settings :()

After lots of reading up on the various config settings, I'll give it another shot tonight

Untick triple buffer under your openGL settings that worked for me with my amd,ati setup

In conjunction with those V2 drivers, do the following as well:

1.Create a Rage shortcut with the following launch parameters:

+cvaradd g_fov 12 +com_allowconsole 1 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +image_anisotropy 16 +image_usecompression 0 +g_showplayershadow 1 +m_smooth 0

2.Create a file called rageconfig.cfg in Rage/base/ and put the following commands in there:

seta image_usecompression "0"
seta image_anisotropy "16"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizevmtr "8192"
seta vt_maxppf "24"
seta vt_maxlockedpages "256"
seta vt_minlod "-2"
seta vt_lodBias "-2"
seta vt_maxaniso "2"
seta vt_qualityhdplossless "1"
seta vt_qualityhdppower "0"
seta vt_qualityhdpspecular "0"
seta vt_qualityhdpnormal "0"
seta vt_qualityhdpdiffuse "0"
seta vt_qualitydctpower "100"
seta vt_qualitydctspecular "100"
seta vt_qualitydctnormal "100"
seta vt_qualitydctchroma "100"
seta vt_qualitydctluma "100"
seta vt_restart

3. Go to C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\ and create a folder called "id software" (without "). Then create a folder called "rage" (without ") inside that folder.

4. Run game and play.

See if that helps, has worked for me and a lot of other people :)

There's a patch out -fixes many of these issues.

- Implemented workaround for AMD driver crash right after intro cinematic on Win 7 32-bit systems.
- Disabled UBOs because they are causing animation issues with AMD drivers. Don’t allow swap-tear to be enabled on AMD while the extension is not exposed because it may crash.
- Support for new video settings: “texture cache”, “vsync”, and ”anisotropic filter”
- Automatically adjust vt_maxPPF based on the number of available cores.
- Improved performance for SLI cards when GPU transcode is enabled.
- Fix for GPU Transcoding option being disabled after exiting gameplay.
- Added safe mode to restore video settings to default values.
- Allow g_fov to be changed from the RAGE launch options in Steam.
- Server now forwards text chat from clients to all other clients while in-game.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN MAN

Mas0ch1st Done that already hey

Stonecold I have done the shortcut thing already i know theres a few different config files out there ill give yours a shot

Joker the updates download automatically from steam i have done that aswell

seta vt_maxppf "24"

How many cores do you have?

+vt_maxPPF XX
This command variable is a substitute for the ‘GPU Transcode’ option, if it is not available in the options menu. Both of these options compensate for a GPU that is bottlenecked by the CPU.

If you are trying to run Rage on a dual core machine or similar, you should use a value of 8 or 16. Other values you can use are 8, 16, 32, 64, 128. Follow the trial and error method to find the optimum value which works well with your setup.
