Raidmax Smilodon Chassis.

I have the Smilodon extreme black edition - Very nice case!

What I really like about the case is the solid build quality; it is a pretty heavy case due to this, but solid never the less.

I have never had a problem with regard to space, but I guess if you going to throw 5 or 6 drives in it you going to run out. Cooling is great, I have even disconnected 2 of the fans on the case and still have no problems.

The removable mobo tray for me was a god send, makes life so much easier, even when it comes to cleaning.

Overall I would recommend this case, its build quality for me is great and it looks cool.
Just be careful of what you clean the see through plastic with as it scratches pretty easily so use a soft cloth.

That's good to hear.
And yes, the idea of having a removable mobo tray is really appealing.

Raidmax Black Smilodon Full-Blk Case - No PSU R 759 excl. R 865 incl.

yeah Grim, My Case is f***ing heavy - I have a corsair HX1000W so yeah - weighs a ton - but the case, IS, ROCK SOLID.

Nice find - thanks man.

i have the smiladon... must say its a really reliable case, but i think it could run a bit cooler.

I've had my smilodon for about 2years. I love it.

My only gripe is that it's heavy. Otherwise no complaints.

I paid R1200 for mine though. I've got 4 hard drives and 2 cd roms inside with an 8800 and still space for more.

The way the side panels open is just awesome.

Yeah the side panels are awesome - can swing open or even be removed - but yeah - solid as a rock and as heavy too.

I'm thinking one can put 9 hard drives in and a DVD Drive if you use the 5 inch bays for the HDD's....

you can always screw them in somehow or something but is there an easier way - like a HDD sized bay that fits into the 5 inch bay area? no idea why there are 4 DVD-Drive sized bays in these things... (1 DVD drive and a Zalman cooling monitor thing - what else???)

paid 800 for my raidmax smiladon... also check the raidmax sagitta! R675
http://www.pcmall.co.za/moreinfo.asp?sku=SAGITTAWBS
and the raidmax sagitta 2. R725
http://www.pricecheck.co.za/offers/6433073/Raidmax+Sagitta+II+Black+ATX+Desktop+Case/

thing i like about these cases is that they are skrew less and it has a removable motherboard tray!!

Those Sagitta's won't have me sleeping at night - they creep me out  :erm: :D

The Ninja case looks cool as well.

Then again, between the Ninja and the Smilodon, I'd have the latter.

Checked out a video on youtube about the Ninja, doesn't look as nice.
Also no removable mobo tray it would seem at a glance.

yea that sagitta is pretty freaky... dont worry about someone stealing it, probably scare them away!!! use it as a heavy object to throw i guess. id buy that case, i mean, look at all the uses. its not only a case, but a watch dog and a weapon:D

How does the case actually look grim... Like this?

The removable MB tray is crazy appealing to me! :D

not only is the mobo tray removable, but the whole right side panel can easily be removed too, if there are GFX Cards plugged into your mobo (The tray won't be removable then)
the whole design is pretty smart if you ask me...

there is also a little toolbox:) ha ha ha.. place to store all your loose bits... raidmax really put alot of effort in the disign of their cases

Yes, building into a case can be a real pain in the ass if you have big hands like me so something like this would be quite welcome:).
@ Keeper. you said you also have the "black edition" case...does it look like the pic I posted...?

yeah - loved those HDD metal thingies in that magic box - no screws! just place one on each side of the HDD and slide it in, *click* and it's locked!

I bet I can install a brand new HDD within 10 seconds haha :D

yeah i did some googeling and it seems the black edition is the one to go for.

besides the color difference the normal one has a 80mm at the back, and does not come with ALL the fans there are space for - they call them "optional"

The Black edition looks much better IMO too.

I must say again here this case really is Friggen Heavy. 10KG's and that's without a PSU or a big GFX Card and a few HDD's and so on...

I can't imagine how heavy this thing will be for watercoolers

Don't think i'll upgrade anythime soon though....think it should last me quite a while - very good build quality - still sturdy as a rock 7 months later.

nice review here: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjRILuDmfOg[/ame]

S&B, after much deliberation between this case and the Coolermaster 690, I think I'm gonna go for this as well, the black and green one. The CM690 window is way too friggen small for my liking and it only has 1 x 3¼ inch bay whereas I need 2. Where will you be ordering yours from?

Well I'm still on the hunt for something local instead of PcInt - cos the shipping will take away any saving their would've been for me.
Also likely going to do some more investigating on pricing - though those prices that have been mentioned are not bad at all.

Also I'm ony looking at getting it at the end of July - pc budget for the month already exausted - not too mention that I went over it lol.

So it's either PcInternational or Zaps.

But I'm hoping I'll run into someone that can source it locally.
Not too crazy about getting such a heavy and valuable (on a personal level) item from an online store, Courier paranoia I suppose :p :D

Hmmm...
PcInt is R865 inc.
Zaps is R1012 inc.
Wonder what PcInt's shipping costs are and if they have an option to insure it..

I bought this case about 6 months ago. It is wonderful.

My only gripe is that the hard-drive activity light is hard to see if the case is on the ground to your right. This may seem strange because the light is huge, but there we have it.

I get around this by opening the front door and watching it "from the back".

Anyway, thanks for this post. It has reminded me to get my PC off the floor :-)

Have fun!
