Hi! This is a long shot, but has anyone tried to use Rain 4G in Reebok in the Western Cape (close to Klein Brak, close-ish to Mosselbaai)? I'd like to take a trip there, but only if I can work during the day, for which I need the interwebs. I have a Rain 4G thingy that I can use if there is coverage.

Rain's coverage map shows blue in the area but with, like, spotty bits missing. I have no idea what that means.

I took the leap and tried it out. Posting about my experience for posterity:
- I took a small Rain 4G MiFi device. It worked fine. The down speed was on the slow side (<5Mbps), and the up was a similar speed. Not mind-blowing, but fast enough to do my work
- I also took my big 5G CPE. This did not work at all. Obviously there is no 5G coverage in the area, but my expectation was that, since there is 4G, then the 5G router should at least be able to use that. Alas. After looking around on forums, it would appear that the firmware on the device prevents it from being used in areas where there is no 5G coverage.

Hi @helpwelpie

You will not be able to use 5G services if you fall outside the 5G coverage area. Moreover the service does not function if you are outside the 5G coverage area – even if you are within rain’s 4G coverage area.
