NEVER own the router, pay 1K a month for 24 months FIXED TERM contract.
so in essence you paying 24K for a modem over 2 years.

for 1K you can get a very decent Fibre install with very decent speeds.

when the prices fall and their is more interest, might be worth a look,
otherwise, daylight robbery for people that dont do some homework first...

Yeah except on prepaid its R1k a month for the same data package. So sure, you never own the router, but you also don't pay for using it either.

going to stick with my R250 deal for now, even though it looks like the tower has been upgraded in my area.

Let's not forget taking Rain's router in their 24 month contract means you stuck with them for 2 years., or couph up pay the penalty and return the router leaving you in same place without router as you were in the first place!

No choice to move if better deals start appearing from other ISP's...only a complete idiot or totally cashstrapped would dare go anywhere near that "deal" ripoff "offer"

Yeah if you fine with the 24 month contract and know you wont cancel then sure, otherwise it is risky.
I'm not sure why this is a black Friday special though. If you kept the router after 24 months then sure, but if you have to give it back after 24 months, its not a special at all.

ok that makes sense then if router is not being subsidised anymore and is R5500, then not a scam, just a 24 month damp squid that you can't make calamari out of.

Well you clearly aren't one of them. According to your argument every contract ever is a scam then....

This deal you don't own the router but you don't pay for it either. So give anyone access to 5G and they don't have to pay R3250 upfront once off. Now they just pay for the internet they use.

JUST like fibre where installation is subsidized you need to stay with them or pay the installation fees.

Show me a fibre service providing more than 200Mbps for R1000 a month with free installation and activation with no clawback.

I will wait a few years for your answer.....
 
I'm getting close to 90Mbps dl's /20+ ul's currently on my MTN Fixed LTE/A...no need for 5G.
Fast enough for anything.
Sure it took a lot of investigation, testing, waiting...numerous ISP's over last 18 months.


But if you must have the latest supposed greatest, right now as it is released...then you must pay.
Diff strokes as they say.

Simples.

not every contract is a scam, just putting FREE in big and black letters, and then putting a little asterisk and telling people T's and C's apply.

does get to me sometimes.
I mean why not just advertise the "real" cost as the headline and then mention yes the router is actually free.

The appeal here though is the uncapped. I got tired of having to switch off one router, and then switch and connect the other router to switch between RAIN and MTN. But yeah, MTN speeds are really good on there fixed LTE-A
