So I'm assuming Cell ID is unique number given to a tower/base station. Still trying to figure out what is going on. Just trying to figure out how same Cell ID I am connecting to can go from 400Mbps to 150Mbps. If its "broken" what is giving me the 150Mbps? LTE?

Have been told it's the Wonderboom tower on the Magalies I am connecting to and not the tower visualized in RAIN optimizer. Have known this for a while now. Maybe a more difficult fix due to its location.

So after lengthy talk with RAIN networks guy he said my problem seems to be that I am jumping/latching to different towers which would explain my SOLID 150 speed down from 350-400. Sorry not my profession but don't buy story. Apparently CELL ID is also not an indication of what tower you are connected too either.

All the info a bit over my head must be honest. Frustrating to say the least. I did get the impression from them that you would rather me cancel the line and they would give me a refund. Like they did not want to deal with the issues and blamed it on my location (I'm in coverage). Also I was told my ODU in mounted higher than all the RAIN towers in my area . He said I should try lower the antennae now to see if that might work.

When asked why I had pretty decent speeds at the start this 5G adventure I was told I was an anomaly. Anyways this morning right after talk with Network guy all of a sudden back in the 250-300's.

Well, RAIN i ex iBurst :)
Yeah I know just it gives me the heebie-jeebies seeing that old name.

ANOTHER NOTE: Is 936m really far for a tower? been trying to force 2600 but it just dies on me every time, the phone only picks 4G+ and 2600 up (app wise) randomly and dc's from it if I sneeze. Got the main sim in a B613 though.

I have the same issue. Got 430 initially, then it went to a steady 350, then 280, then 250 now it's 150. Still not complaining, but it's a worrying trend.

probably as more and more speed testers join your tower :p But they might very well be rationing the towers to make it fair when people join

Yeah, also thought about this. I am happy with anything above their "required" 80 but then punt 100, not 700.

Welcome to 4G...oh wait, I meant "5G" ( though the speeds are more 4G) !

Dejavu...existing 4G vs the reality for many of 3G speeds

Well you cant call 150Mbps 5G then. That LTE-A territory. Not paying fro LTE. Unless they just using 5G as buzz word and hyping it up.

According to the maps thats your tower location

When speaking to engineer yesterday got some ideas of where I could be connecting too. Not sure where you got that but there is no RAIN tower in that area, its actually a dead spot. There are three options in my intimidate area (see below).

Did a quick crude triangulation of the possible sites I am connecting to in the North. Not sure of locations in the South.

Check this thread out to get the 4g location

I saw rain and vodacom working 320 meters from me I hope that is a 5g site.

Overall much better today. Did have a concern earlier this morning but while I was online felt the switch over/latching. Not as seamless as I would have thought.

Internet went down then up again and speeds basically doubled.
