Rain 5G intermittently dropping

I have the R699 package & i have been having endless headache on this. The connection seems to be very unstable. I ended up taking out the sim card & inserted it into my Lte modem because I got tired of the issue with the 5G outdoor router. The Lte router worked perfectly but then I think Rain block the Internet connection on the Lte router with the 5G sim card & had to insert it back into the 5G router. I am so frustrated.
P. S. I inserted my 5G sim into my friend's 5G CPE Pro router & the connection was super stable. In conclusion, the 5G Outdoor N5368X router is the issue & so i need Rain to change my router to the Pro version attached at the soonest because I am losing out on my work. View attachment 831134

No Internet connection though .

Update time!

Got a call from a very helpful Rain service agent. He checked where my nearest towers were and gave the following advice:
- Try aim for one single tower directly. If the signal from two overlapping towers is equally good, it may switch from one to another, causing a brief drop in connectivity.
- The tower with the most reliable signal won't necessarily give the fastest speed. Speedtests alone aren't a good indication of signal reliability.
- Trees aren't ideal but shouldn't make a big difference in reliability. Buildings and solid walls, however, can severely impact connectivity.

My additional take-aways from this:
- Rain's setup site does not give accurate info on the closest tower. According to the representative we have three nearby towers - to the North, East, and South. The website instructed us to point the router due West, so the least useful direction. Everyone should consider contacting Rain directly to get this info.
- The website discovered by @OneKnight seems to be a bit more accurate, but still not quite perfect. Reference this post: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/rain-tower-location-pm-me-your-cell-ids.919578/post-20632608
- Deactivating our WiFi extender didn't seem to help, but I still need to confirm this.

I will try adjust the mounting of the router to see if that improves the reliability of the connection, and report back here. So far though @rain_mobile has been helpful and efficient in their support.

and they want me to downgrade to Standard 5G and pay R699 ?? WTF?

I put my router outside on the balcony today. Woweee. Getting amazing speeds. I wish that hose type connector thing would fit with the stand being connected. Then I didn't have to go through the hassle of getting someone to mount the thing.

Mine is literally attached to the balcony's railing using the clamps that came with the CPE... Not quite a professional installation, but it works well enough.

Haha as soon as I go that low then my connection is much worse. On top of the railing, or specifically the wall next to the railing and I get about 200 Mbps and the connection was rock solid the whole day!

People are coming to set up my router outside beginning next week. Unfortunately due to body corporate issues I will not be setting it up very high but I'll be super happy with 200 Mbps and a connection that doesn't drop. Interestingly, it is on the other side of the house than where it was usually, so it connects to a different tower.

So.

I got someone to come put the router on a pole on the side of my house. He held up the router at different places and we had a look at the signal strength and do speed tests and we decided on a spot. This whole week I had the router standing on the balcony where sometimes it even reached 300 Mbps. Something I was very happy about. It was a in a plastic bag though in case of rain or something. I only got these great speeds after I organised the people to come do the installation.

He set up the pole and we powered everything on and wow, amazing signal! As in so much better than anything I ever had. And then it dropped. And connected and dropped and connected and dropped. Unusable. Moving it up and down the pole. No luck. It doesn't want to connect to 5G. It connects for about 10 seconds or so and then drops.

So the guy set it up for me so that I can easily unhook it and move it to the old balcony spot easily with good cable management. Seriously, if anyone needs an installer, pm me, I'm very impressed.

However on the balcony in the usual spot I now get much worse speeds. Damn. Moving the router a cm changes the speed by quite a bit. Will have to see if I can get it exactly as I had it.

Ideally I want it working on the pole. I wish I knew why it can't connect to 5G there. Will try again tomorrow to see if it maybe connects and stay connected.

*edit*

I saw some other people posting that their 5G wasn't working and then they posted that it was working again. So I tried mine again and boom! It's working now! Yay. Getting great speeds. I hope it stays this way.

Pics , post signal stats , speedtest results.
