Rain and storm for Cpt

I was always told by my ex wife in UK that a bright clear sky and clouds with a yellowish looking tint indicate the presence of snow nearby... certainly some truth to that as those photos attest.

Farkin uncomfortably icy here in S Subs.

Its raining again (11am on Sun 30th), not what I expected!? Temperature on top of Constantiaberg is 4.6C.

@Papa Smurf is not going to be having fun on the mountain...

Edit: The outlook for the next few days is very mixed, with a well developed cutoff-low positioned along the southern Cape coast. Note that these kind of systems are very unpredictable, and it is difficult to forecast the position and amount of rain in advance:

Unfortunately there is still a lot of cloud around, but this morning's satellite image (Sun 30th) shows the widespread snowfalls. The coverage over the Sutherland plateau is quite thin (2-3cm) and will melt soon, but that over the mountains of the SW-Cape should last several days. This false-colour image shows snow as pale-blue, to distinguish it from lingering clouds:

Few snow flakes fell near Maclears around 10:30 this morning. Still a few patches of snow and boardwalks a bit spicy

That melted very quickly
I got to McClears Beacon 4 hrs later at 2:30 pm and there was almost no sign of snow left
Odd little patch here and there but you had to look for it

Table Mountain was not cold at all today
Hiked 24.1km and most of it was in my t-shirt. Did put my warm top on at Mc Clears coz the icy wind was hitting us, but back on the tracks again there was no wind

We got hit at 11am with a shower passing by, luckily it was halfway up the jeep track at Constantia Nek and we found a big tree to cover us and wait for it to pass, 15 minutes later we were back on the road hiking again bone dry
