Rain and storm for Cpt

The South Easter usually blows from October through December in Cape Town. This year it started quite late, and October was unusually cool and unsettled. In some years the wind can blow right through January and February, and we barely have a summer season. Things will change in the next week, but the wind will always return.

I haven't noticed particular amounts of pollen in the air, but it certainly has been dusty. Different people are sensitive to varying triggers for asthma (including pets, etc). I use a year round inhaled steroid (and long-acting bronchodilator), which requires a prescription (not like the cheap inhalers).

I also have one but it isn't of much use this year for some reason, this year seems particularly bad for some reason.

Cut off low in the making. Lots of rain heading for the NC and the WC, even affecting the FS and southern parts of GP, as well as EC and KZN.

The development of a cutoff-low can be rather unpredictable, and the rainfall rather scattered. The 5 day chart shows patchy distribution, with most of the heavy rain offshore to the south of Cape Town. Details should become clearer closer to the time.

I'm wondering what happened to these destructive winds that are predicted, today is the least windy day of the week so far for me.

Supposed to be sanding and varnishing the deck on Saturday... What's the rain outlook? Deep South.

The wind direction is mostly from the east, which is slightly unusual, and conditions will vary significantly depending on your location, and shelter provided by the mountain ranges of the SW-Cape. This chart shows the winds at midnight tonight (Thurs 25th).

Unsettled conditions, with rain in places, but very hard to predict specific details. The wind direction will change to NW on Saturday and Sunday.

Next 3 days outlook:

According to my windy app (yes I know it's not very accurate) there is potential for a small thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon.

I'm just under Sir Lowry's Pass where the Cape Doctor is usually at its fiercest. Heavy SE winds at the moment but nothing exceptional for this time of year.
Hopefully this evening is more eventful when the wind direction changes, I miss a decent thunderstorm

Yesterday and tonight the wind has been howling here in Strandfontein, False Bay.

When I chatted with my colleague in Milnerton last night, he reckoned there was no winds moering at his place.

I see now from the previous few posts, that you all had a nice day in the North :D
Still a chilly 19C here and windy at the moment.

EDIT: I work nightshifts :p So my "days" are not the norm :p :D
