Rain and storm for Cpt

An unseasonal cold-front is brushing the SW-Cape early this morning (Sun 13th), bringing rain to the Cape Town Cycle Tour. On the plus side, there isn't a gale-force wind, nor baking heat. It is rather damp in Kenilworth (at 6am), though probably less so further away from the mountain.

It's also quite cold in addition to being very wet.
 
One thing I've definitely noticed this year especially but even last year is the increased humidity... and lower temperatures during summer months.

I remember days and days of 30+ scorching heat during CT summers, but now even on days where it's barely in mid 20s the humidity is oppressive, very close.

Am I the only one experiencing this phenomenon?

Cape Town also had long rainy seasons in the winter when it used to drizzle for a week or more at a time. But yes, the humidity is getting worse. At some stage I read an article where they claimed that CT is turning in a desert over time. I hope that's not true even though the signs show otherwise.

Nope, me and my family were anecdotally mentioning this a couple days ago as well. Feeling more and more like Durban as time goes on.

Well remember those humid, stuffy, balmy nights during my stay in Durban during my NS in late 80s... showering 3 times a day and starting to sweat immediately afterwards.

Not a proponent of global warming per se, but if one looks at the weather worldwide in last few years one can definitely see a huge shift from the norms we've all been accustomed to.
Floods in Europe, raging fires in US and Aus, permafrost melting in Siberia.... All signs of change.

This humidity :cautious:. Night temps to start dropping soon though :thumbsup:, lekker slaap.
 
Wind certainly picked up last day here in False Bay, incessant 45+ km/h with gusts to to 70, and fairly fresh to strong spreads set to continue most of this week. Gotta say this summer at least half the days have had fresh to strong winds in this part of peninsula, Fish Hoek/Glencairn...

Certainly keeps things cooler but as for the grit and sand, it gets in everywhere!
Guess you can't have both! It's either sweltering humidity or awful SE's!
