Rain and storm for Cpt

Lovely weather we're having here. It's raining and thundering here like crazy, in the Winelands. Thunder strikes, like Russian carpet bombs. My two dogs is laying in stress balls in the living room of all these rolling thunder going on here. My back yard is ankle deep in water.
 
Quite a distinct clockwise circulation over the cape, looks like a very mild cut-off low, but I'm not certain that's entirely the case....

Cold upper air trough, visible on the 500hPa charts. Instability driven convection, rather different from the rest of SA which is driven by surface heating. It was definitely not warm at 4am when the storm passed over CT.

There was some moisture inflow, so it was a little bit like a cutoff-low, but without strong surface winds and flooding. Quite an unusual event, but definitely more common in March/April than other times of year.
