It has been bucketing down in Kenilworth since 2:30am. It may clear later today (Thurs 20th), but likely to be very wet close to the mountain.

Edit: 25mm in our gauge at 6:30am, a bit drier as the front passes over.

Another major cold front is predicted for Sun 23rd.

There were always 3 cold fronts that would follow each other with short periods in between --- and it was clear ( to me at least) that we would see them make landfall over the weekend.

Yup. remove the Sun from the equation even for a few hours and the temperature plummets. Just this simple example should make all those ACC fanatics sit up and think about all the BS they are peddling,

What’s ACC?

Pretty much continuous rain in Kenilworth for the last 24 hours, though light orographic drizzle for most of that period (drier away from the mountain). 38mm in our gauge this morning. Not that cold outside as the wind remains consistently NW (the SW wind brings the cold), but likely to be cloudy all day. Still plenty of rain and heavy showers in the forecast...

I have not been outside to check on the rain gauge - just too wet and it has not let up. The wind here in Vredekloof is all over the place.
