Rain and storm for Cpt

A bit wetter than I expected this morning (Thurs 27th) in Kenilworth, but we always get orographic rain from the mountain. 6mm in our gauge up to 6:30am. It was fun taking out the bins in the dark on a public holiday...

Edit: 12mm up to 8:30am. Looks like a break in the weather for now.

I don't expect much inflow from this system, but the Berg River Dam is already at 84% (after last weekend's storm). See: https://www.dws.gov.za/Hydrology/Unverified/RTGraph.aspx?Station=G1R004FW&Type=Flow&Rain=N

Further rain is predicted for Sat 29th.

But don't you know that (according to some of the solar system sales guys) " Clouds have no effect because the solar panels are only "tuned" to receive the wavelengths that pass through clouds? Clouds do not affect the performance of solar panels in the slightest! :oops:o_O

Long-range forecasts show a period of unsettled weather moving in over the SW-Cape from Thurs 11th onwards. Not much rain is predicted for CT itself, but very cold and wet conditions are likely over the southern and Eastern Cape coast, with snow possible over the inland mountain ranges. The detailed models will become clearer over time:

We’ve been having stunning weather the last few days, I’ve been back to wearing shorts but it looks like that is soon going to end permanently :(
