Very mild storm coming to work this morning
Strandvale is lekker flooded.
Im watching WhatsApp videos of friends living there, as well as my Aunt, the roads are flooded.
Some houses as well
Its bad
No electricity either, sub station under water

May be an image of car and road
No electricity in most of Strand, Gordon's Bay and Somerset West due to the flooded substation. I hope there is not much more rain today.

Last time it was this bad was 2013
Cars got flooded in Main Road Somerset West
Written off
The water was flowing right through Medi City.
Ive seen 1 metre of erosion outside my place happen in the last week
That Lourensford River is angry
And we still have lots more rain for next 24hrs to come

Time flies, 2013 seems like yesterday (to me). That must have been a cutoff-low, since it happened in November. See: https://ewn.co.za/2013/11/16/CT-mops-up-after-major-flooding

Which one did you get? I'm busy looking at getting one as well. It's just too damn damp in this place lol.

It's the only locally available dehumidifier that is smart/wifi-enabled, so my choice was easy.

There is also already a HomeAssistant integration for it too which works on the LAN, works really well.

Oh yes, and it's relatively quiet for a dehumidifier - I suffer from tinnitus and I like having constant noise when I sleep so I have it in my bedroom running on low fan speed which is nice, just sometimes disconcerting when I hear the water dripping into the bucket thinking that my roof is leaking

GUYS ...GUYS!
WE NEED TO BUILD A SUBSTATION! ....WHAT!?... I DON'T KNOW WHERE... MAYBE THAT OPEN PIECE OF GROUND NEXT TO THAT RIVER.... YEAH THAT IS PERFECT..... YES YES DON'T BOTHER TO RAISE IT ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE SURROUNDING GROUND OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT..

Thanks! I just order this one this morning: https://www.takealot.com/meaco-12l-...friendly-alternative-to-a-tumble/PLID54494856

Low energy one. Didn't think there was a Smarthome one available, but don't think I'd use it much for that anyway. It's far too wet here and definitely a must have.
