Yeah it seems that the rain bearing clouds are trolling us, moving up to the coast, and either blowing away or raining out over the ocean :crylaugh: :(

Everybody in CT must just organize camping trips for Easter...that always brings a schitload of rain.

I was contemplating asking about that in this thread as I'm planning a camp at the end of April (my first), and with my luck the WC will be drowning in water that whole weekend. Is there no way to check the long term forecast?

Plenty of places to check that. None with accuracy higher than 5% for any specific day though :p
 
I found these charts to be the most accurate(still not 100%) in knowing whether rain is coming or not.. Right now there is a coldfront pushing its way up and CT may catch the outer edge of it and see some rain.. That said, the high pressure systems have just been pushing all the rain bearing low pressures down consistently..

Easter is very early this year (Sun 1st Apri), so the chances of rain are much less than if Easter fell in the second half of April (as it is in most years).

The weather starts to change after the autumn equinox (21 March), but the temperature changes and rains usually follow 4-6 weeks later.
 
I once spent about 3 months analysing the weather on the west coast before booking a week at Mykonos. I chose the first week in April as being the best because the probability of rain was the lowest based on 10 years of historical data.
The day we arrived it started raining and the day we left the skies cleared for the first time.
So if you go camping, assume the worst and then if it is better than the worst, you are happy.

As much as I want it to rain I will be very cheesed off if it rains that weekend, it took me a few years to get my family to bite for the camp idea, the chance of them wanting to go again if we have a crap weekend will be very low.

The chance of it raining on Easter Sunday 1st April are about the same as me becoming pope, but if you count all 4 days of the long weekend, the chance of rain is about 20%.

I'm talking about the long weekend at the end of April. Hopefully that will be a dry weekend. I can't remember have rain on my birthday over the last 10 or so years, and that weekend is my birthday. So hopefully this year it won't be different.

Hmm, you and I are in agreement here. I'm doing the AfricanX trail run (100km over 3 days) over that weekend and would love cool but clear weather. If I have to run in rain, so be it. It just makes it more treacherous though...

Yes very dry. The largest privately owned dam in the country, Kriegerspoort is empty.
But. The area has had just over 100 mm in the last week of January, together with a very bad hailstorm breaking 12 windows on the farm.
Eskom took 27 hours to restore power. Power back at 19:00 tonight. Eskom truck stuck in the mud. Cousin in law went to tow them out, now he is stuck as well.
Farm no longer has teams of donkeys so they are in for a miserable night.

All it needs is for cyclone cebile to change direction and move towards the African coast and that moisture is going to push further west. Next 8 to 10 days is going to be interesting.

It's drizzling in Stellenbosch. So hopefully you were correct with the above.
