Power still out from Hermanus to Pearly Beach. They hope to have the last 2 pylons up this morning and power restored shortly after. Thankfully the sun is shining bright so good conditions for working and my batteries are getting a decent charge at last.
That's an enormous volume of water inflows for a large dam like that to have a rise of 14% in 5 days!!The DWS chart for the Theewaterskloof Dam shows an unusually quick and sustained rise this week, from 74% on Mon 12th to 88% this morning (Fri 16th), with no signs of stopping:

Wind speeds are picking up at lunchtime (Fri 16th), and gale force winds (> 40 knots) are expected along the coast later today:

It’s getting a bit windy in Hermnaus in the last hour and the reports are that it’s windy up where the pylons are. I really hope they have us up and running today.
Fingers crossed, although it would be typical if they switched it back on and we had loadshedding 10 minutes later

Power Outage Update 16.06.23 16:30
The Eskom team has completed work on the 66kV Houhoek-Hermanus line and is leaving the site. The power will be switched from Caledon soon.
We have also requested exemption from loadshedding for tonight. Eskom will confirm by 18:00 if this request will be acceded to.
Please switch off your geysers to lower the spike when the power comes back on.
Issued by OM Executive Mayor. Dr Annelie Rabie
I see the Overstrand FB page has been down for a while already ... can't follow any updates about loadshedding for that area
@Spizz any news on your side ?

Nope. We’re still down. Last message was they are waiting for a cherry picker to climb some pole or other to flick a switch and they can’t use a ladder because of the wind. Fsck knows what is happening. It’s a complete schit show.
