The DWS chart for the Clanwilliam Dam shows an insane rate of increase, from 50% on Mon 12th to 70% this morning and 90% by midday (Thurs 15th). Likely to overflow soon. See: https://www.dws.gov.za/Hydrology/Unverified/RTGraph.aspx?Station=E1R002FW&Type=Flow&Rain=N

Edit: The DWS chart shows the Clanwilliam Dam reached 100% at 6am this morning (Fri 16th). It went from 50% to full in exactly 4 days...

There are plans to raise the dam level, but have been postponed and delayed: https://www.iol.co.za/capeargus/new...millions-a2802c73-23b2-4de5-87bb-ab7abd5b4d03
The latest date put forward for completion of the project by the National Department of Water and Sanitation is in 2028

I remember when we used to drive past the dam during school holidays, Depending on the time of year, it was either almost empty or all the sluice gates were open. Was an impressive sight that for a desert dweller.

I think the major storm water works they did in Bridgewater after the November 2013 floods helped in not having a repeat.

I do think if they did not do that work it would have been a similar situation this week as it was them.
