What does that mean. Even our government website state code red is just code to confirm there is a fire.

The SAEON Dwarsberg (Jonkershoek) mountain catchment station recorded 6mm of rain between 7pm and 8pm. I hope some of that fell on the fires...

Edit: Total rainfall was 18mm up to midnight, quite impressive!

*Fire Code Red- This time it's Cape Town's turn to lend a hand*

More than 2 weeks ago, a fire broke out in the Overstrand. For the past 18 days, fire crews have battled to bring a fire under control as it raced between the mountains, with Theewaters Kloof municipality having to fight fires all across Grabouw today. A shortwhile back, Overstrand municipality issued a "Code Red." All resources are exhausted and they have nothing left to battle the flames.

With properties now at risk in Pringle Bay, and with the inferno expected to make its way across to our municipality, our Chief Fire Officer has answered the call and has issued the instruction- we are currently sending additional firefighting appliances to assist. An Incident Management Team of 4 senior management has been called and will be en-route shortly.

Chief Fire Officer Clinton Manuel is no stranger to the danger and the destruction caused by such runaway vegetation fires. In 2017 he was the Knysna Fire Chief and battled a raging inferno that went on to claim the lives of 7 people, 16000 hectares of plantation and which cost billions of Rands in damage.
