Have you had plant leaves being “burnt” by the sun that in past years were fine in summer?

Can't count how many times I rushed through to Betty's Bay to "protect" my dads place which was one of the only ones to still be surrounded by trees. Could probably drive Clarence drive with my eyes closed

Wind was west this morning, meaning Betty's Bay was under smoke and ash ... They apparently closed the western entrance to Porter Drive and evacuated the people from Silversands Area. At the moment the wind turned south again pushing the smoke inland but there is a few houses between Pringle and Betty's in danger.

1 February 2024: OVERSTRAND WILDFIRES DAY 4 UPDATE @ 06:00
HANGKLIP ROAD FIRE:
Status: Contained
Currently there are no active firelines but the fires remain hot and can flare up any time.
The evacuation of properties has been lifted and people can return to their homes.
Objective: Mop-up operation
Overnight teams continued with mopping- up operations throughout the night.
No flare-ups observed though there are a lot of hot spots in the black that creates embers.
Incoming teams will continue with mop-up throughout the day.

Approximately 800 ha burned thus far.
