damage to my hanger at FAWN (cape wine lands - ex fisantekraal air field). this fixed wing aircraft got severe damage.

not very often. the Atlantic seaboard is way more exciting. Worcester or Tankwa now and again.

I do think we averted more flooding. The major earth works in expanding the Lourens river has had an impact already. Lots of water in that area today.
That makes no sense because I think the south easter is only bad in Gordons Bay and Strand from what I remember
Doesn't Somerset West get nailed harder by the North Wester in winter?
Saw that but it makes no sense that it got 303 gust and the highest other place only got 199 which was Lions Head. I am guessing the anemometer is not accurate there

there used to be a white xenon like my yellow one flying around, but that was written off last month. the only other xenon moved out the province but was repainted red after it's crash.
Also, where is the anemometer at Stellenbosch Airfield? Won't help at all if it is anywhere near the backwash from the propellor of a Cessna for example.
I was going to guess white, last time I saw a gyro in our neck of the woods was about 18 months ago or so. Cant remember exactly. Will take more note in future how often and what colour. Thanks

I don't believe 199km/h either. The highest gust on SAEON Dwarsberg was 115km/h, and this is a properly calibrated anemometer.
P.S. It is very easy for these unofficial weather stations to upload data to a server in km/h, which then get converted from mph to km/h, and end up being 1.6 times the actual wind speed.
Even the SAEON Dwarsberg station had this kind of error at one stage, reporting barometric pressure of 700hPa, by multiplying the actual value by the 1200m altitude adjustment instead of dividing to get 1013hPa.
