The SAWS 10 day rainfall figures to 11 April make for interesting reading: https://www.weathersa.co.za/images/data/climate/nr_10day_rai.pdf
Highest in the Western Cape include Swellendam 170mm, George 97mm, Grabouw 89mm, Ladismith 76mm, Villiersdorp 76mm, Hermanus 74mm, etc.

Also of note in the Northern Cape and Eastern Cape include De Aar 94mm, Port St Johns 83mm, Coffee Bay 80mm, Jamestown 79mm, Noupoort 74mm, Aliwal North 73mm, Kimberley 68mm, Grahamstown 62mm, etc.

Heavy falls were recorded in parts of every province in SA during this event, though some areas received minimal rain.

Is it just me, or has this been the most windy autumn in Cape Town's history? The wind the last few weeks has rivaled that of the height of summer. It's been horrible. Autumn is normally the calm season.

I always tell friends and family to come down during the months of March/April, as it is the best time of year weather-wise. Can't say that anymore.

It is rather windy. And the cold came quick. Summer felt so short.

From Sun 14th Apr onwards CT should have a week of much nicer weather, with lights winds and warmer temperatures. No significant rain is likely in the foreseeable future...

Best time is feb but march april does have some amazing days. I feel like we were robbed of feb as well, it just wasn't as good as it usually is.

First rain is usually easter weekend, then there is a gap and a month or so later winter really kicks in. I feel like i'm already done with winter and the season hasn't even started.

it is always too soon for a heating fire. Have you not heard? The earth is boiling, so why do you want to make heating fires?
Exactly! Fires cause convection, causing air movement, causing heavy currents, causing the bad winds we've had! Stop lighting fires!!! it isn't winter yet! :p

Not sure if this is weather related, but who else noticed more than usual amount of lizards / gechos in their gardens ?

Everyone in Goodwood seems to notice more than the usual few in the garden o_O

I have the full circle of life here.. plenty of lizards, eaten by plenty of rain spiders, spider wasps catching and paralyzing the rain spiders and dragging to their nests for the babies to eat..
