The SAEON Dwarsberg mountain catchment site has recorded approximately 30mm in the last 12 hours (up to midday on Sun 15th). Certainly welcome, but will only have limited inflow effects IMO (mostly Berg River dam).
Rain has stopped for the moment. More cold fronts are due on Mon 16th, and Wed 18th.
Some waterfalls on the eastern side of Table Mountain. Will definitely have helped with the 12 Apostles fire.
It's coming down hard in Stellenbosch now. Sitting it out a bit as I will get soaking wet walking home in this rain now.
Interesting comment form the weather gut on SABC 2 this morning about the number of fronts still making landfall in the Cape. Sort of hinted that their prediction for a wetter than normal Spring were a bit out and maybe it should have been for a wetter than normal Summer?
well, that sounds quite promising!
If you don't mind me asking, what site do you go to to determine rainfall numbers?
Not much rain is predicted for Cape Town this week, but a well developed cold-front will bring rain, very cold conditions, and snow to the Eastern Cape and Drakensberg mountains by Thurs 26th and Fri 27th respectively:

C'mon clouds! Dump your load all over me!!
Clouds? That's a strange nickname to give your boyfriend, hope he doesn't mind you talking out of the bedroom like that ...
Coz he's constantly high...
Christmas has come early GordonThere was a surprise rain shower out of nowhere at 2.30am in Kenilworth, Cape Town (Thurs 2nd). I jumped out of bed to check that it really was rain and not wind. Actually the NW wind was blowing too!
A flash was observed from the NW direction, and thunderstorms are moving down from the west coast. Its magic lying back watching the walls illuminated by lightning, and listening to distant rumbles of thunder. (Waxing poetic for a bit...)
Rain was predicted by some models but not others, so its all very weird by CT standards!?
