Rain and storm for Cpt

Hopefully this heavy rain within a relatively short period will trigger some good runoff into the dams

Runoff into the dams has been good, even before the latest deluge!

The only data available over weekends are the SAEON Dwarsberg rain gauge, and the Berg River Dam levels. Both have been excellent, with the Berg River Dam up 2% in the last 24 hours (3.3% in the last 48 hours) to 73.4% at 6am on Sun 1st: http://www.dwa.gov.za/hydrology/Unverified/DetailStageFlow.aspx?Station=G1R004FW&Type=Flow&Rain=N

The following week (3-8 July is looking dry), but there is every reason to expect the Berg River Dam to overflow sometime in August. Other large dams (Voelvlei and Theewaterskloof) will take much longer to fill up.

Edit: The Berg River Dam rose 1.5% to 74.9% in the 6 hours up to 12 noon today.

I've been from Milnerton to Town to Rondebosh and Woodstock this morning before returning home. Besides me having to turn my wipers on, I returned home alive. The sun is even peaking through the clouds now.

People are idiots in the rain though. Its not the rain that makes it hard to drive.

I did the 2014 Bastile Day MTB in Franschhoek - the trails were muddy AF, and it was snowy cold weather. Never again. Those trails were made of cold death.

The long range forecast is showing rain so should be good. River levels should also be much higher than the past couple of years making the crossings even colder.

I'm still debating the hypothermia inducing 50k or sticking to the 35k.
