RAIN LTE-A: Speedtests

Officially [-]outside[/-] the coverage zone - not bad speeds at all with the Hauwei B315.

Edit: Correction, just checked the coverage maps - turns out I have coverage now :)

A test this afternoon showed that last night was just poor.
B315, maxed out at 50 down and 22 up.

Tonight, 55 down and 23 up. 18ms latency.
For a device advertising 30 down, I'm happy.

Rain on 1800MHz in Richards Bay... No 2600MHz available simply shows no service when forcing 2600MHz

Another tower close by but this time Vodacom roaming on Rain with 4G+ 2 carrier aggregation..... Still in Richards Bay. Anyone on Vodacom with a LTE-A phone will get 4G+ where ever Rain has coverage. So since Rain has pretty extensive coverage Vodacom 4G+ is widely available.

We are in Farrarmere Benoni and the reception where we are is disgusting on Rain. 1MBPS download and 2 MBps upload.

Not at all acceptable in this day and age. Has been like this since installation despite calling the Afrihost call centre. One agent says should not have been sold the router etc. Another shocked at speedtest then says he will arrange a technician as should get good coverage. Third one asks questions and then promises to send the tech form. After numerous days we get the form to find it is asking all the questions that we have answered on all three occasions.? Help someone save us from this

This is not good. I'm moving to farrarmere at the end of Feb, and I'm quite happy with my rain thingy at the moment in parkrand.

Posted on another thread as well.

I did a test yesterday using https://testmy.net where I tested the speed of my connection once every hour from 9:25 to 19:25. You can change this interval according to your needs. Choose the "Auto Test" option.

This was my results https://testmy.net/compID/180826650188

Max download I got was around 12.8 Mbps going all the way down to only 960kbps for the last test which was at 19:25.

I am in Roodepoort with Afrihost and using a B315 modem.

Terrible in the Table View(Parklands Norht) area.
During the day it is ok but after 17:00 i get mostly under 1Mbps...

Logged a call with Web Africa 4 Dec and still waiting.

Download: 4.58Mbps
Upload: 3.4Mbps

Auckland park.
I am working from home today and wanted to see how things are during the day midweek. This is very disappointing.
