Rain Mobile Feedback Thread

Not sure if Rain is also going that route but 5G is going to be a game changer.. From what I read (and the rumours). 5G will be faster than 100mbit constantly. Even talks of over 300mbit true speed. Only time will tell

Well LTE-A is 4.9G so what diffirence can 5G really make. As far as I could see the standard for LTE-A is 1.5Gbps so yeah it's not happening now how will 5G make any diffirence.

The problem is not the technology currently it's spectrum. Higher the speeds the more spectrum is needed which is available but not allocated to anyone.

Changed my MiFi router to use band 3 only and downlink speeds doubled

Nice! Which router? You should post your experiences in this thread: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/958857-Rain-Recommended-LTE-LTE-A-Routers

I wasn't aware of this limitation, is it the same with the other RAIN ISPs or just Afrihost?

Every other Rain partner has it. Vox is the worst one, they offer you six free months on any of their deals, but you can't cancel for six months afterwards. So you're stuck with that account for a year. All these accounts are month-to-month in name only.

Is it just me or is the rain network completely down?

My sim in Centurion died and my mothers sim in Richards Bay died the sane time.

No service for me either, was watching the World Cup :-( Claremont, Cape Town. At least its not just me!

I was streaming world cup too and just died. No service so disabled my wifi for my mifi and watched tge rest of the half on my telkom sim.

Back to 576p Afrihost for me :-( the tweets are starting to roll in now too. Not like they don't have enough to deal with with the deliveries!

I can confirm that mine died too - Had to dust off my Fixed LTE sim to get access. Teething issues or load shedding affecting them??

Seems to have happened at 3PM on the dot, so that sounds like load shedding. ****, things are not going well for this company at all.

Down in Constantia too...just noticed the red thingy on router and thought, no wtf?!!:wtf:
Fortunately I have Internet Solutions fixed Wifi as well as Afrihost fixed LTE.

I guess we can expect this to happen again. They probably have backup power, but it doesn't kick in immediately.
