Rain to suspend fixed LTE sales

Just because Iburst changed the colour of their work shirt it does not mean that they have changed their business practices.

Now that's a blast from the past. Didn't know that rain was the rebranded version of Iburst. Did vodacom and Iburst not have some kind of partnership in the past before Iburst faded into obscurity?

I don't get what people are saying about cell c, I have downloaded over 200gb this month and it cost me R250 on the RAIN deal. My download speed is between 20 and 35mb. How do you guys see cell c as a good deal for R850 for 200gb?

Comparing it to Rain Fixed LTE not Rain Mobile.

I had 1 customer on iburst. In the area where they live iburst at least had signal. No telkom lines. So no dial up or adsl. Cell calls they had to go up the road. Iburst while slow was steady.
He contacted me when they sent him emails about the pending shut down of iburst. Ironiclly, while a high gain antenna is required, at least rain works ok by him. 100m over and he would have been outside the coverage area.

Vodacom will eventually own rain. Watch the space

I doubt that will ever happen. It will never get approved.

Instead I think these dodgy deals between Vodacom and Rain will continue behind closed doors.

Compared to something you can use 24 hours per day.

I don't mind moving over to Rain mobile, really hated dealing with the incompetency at AH! I'm sure dealing with rain would not be any different but oh well.

i-i-i-iBURPS

We also had iBurps coverage on our smallholding. While not high speed, it worked, and the kids was able to watch youtube on the cheap whilst conserving expensive mobile bandwidth for browsing etc.

When iBurps switched over to RAIN, company (since they paid for the iburps link) decided not to renew the contract, but to let it go.

Why must one have an expensive contract just to have internet connectivity?

What happens when the gryp, rape and escape brigade arrives.

Don't need to have special skills to knew that this would've happened.

So far I had a good 1.5 months of uncapped. Unfortunately came to an end today. But I took the 19 hours uncapped so let's see how it goes.
