Rain to unveil 5G network

Rain has announced it will showcase South Africa's first live 5G network in the second week of November.

The data-only mobile network operator has sent out an invitation to an event which will demonstrate its live 5G network on 12-13 November in Cape Town.

I'm still waiting for them unveil their 4G network. There's almost zero coverage in the south peninsula of Cape Town.

Last time I checked 5G specifications where not yet finalized until sometime in 2019 yet network providers and hardware manufacturer's already got products on the shelves.

I'll rather wait for 2020 just to be sure that where I will be leaving will be covered by 5G.

I'd be interested to see if the 5G latency improvements are demo'ed in their showcase, not just pure bandwidth speeds.
