Thanks for clear review most people fail to give honest review because they hate rain, if UL can continue to be symmetrical then they will be few difference between FTTH and Home 5G Basic which means 5G won't feel like rip off

Very nice results - especially for R499 p/m! I don't have any connection drops with my Rain 5G, but I suppose everyone has a different experience. I am using the Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2.

It should be noted that the connection dropped for a few seconds now and then, which is not unexpected for a fixed-wireless service.

I disagree. Connection drops on a half decent fixed wireless service shouldn't be expected, they should be a rarity at best.

A more accurate statement would be "not unexpected for a RAIN fixed-wireless service".

Yup. Those connection drops would need a bit more clarity, but it is a puff pieces really.

A couple of seconds drop every minute, disaster. Couple of seconds drop once per day, doable.

Really for me Im wondering if this is a good backup to fibre. You never know if openserve can be down for an hour and wreck your WFH setup!

Maybe Ill wait for starlink ;)

Why are you bringing negativity 4G energy into this beautiful 5G thread? :)
I had their 5G beginning of this year for less than a day. It started off blazing fast, but come peak hours, it was dead. Not slow, it was DEAD. Could not open anything. Cancelled it that same evening.

So I find it difficult to believe they fixed their issues with throughput. I currently have fibre though so not planning on moving, but this would be a great alternative for my father who is currently on Telkom LTE, but I cannot recommend it because of my past experience.

Nice package for basic a connectivity option, where coverage is available.
I'm not happy to read of your experience, though, @TofuMofu. What area was this? I'm looking to get this for my parents living in Helderkruin.

I live in Wilropark right next to Helderkruin with 500mbps down and 70mbps up. Latency around 14ms - 30ms to google's DNS.

It's still better to test since I have physical line of site with the outdoor cpe and the area has hills.

The problem with Rain products is that they work well in areas that have fibre because there's less congestion.

One of my family members went from hating it to loving it when they moved from fibre-less Jabulani in Soweto to a new development in the East Rand that came with fibre preinstalled. The problem for rain here is that 15Mbps is R499 without a debit order and R449 with a debit order.
