Crowds have always warmed up to him. Contrary to popular belief here, many people acknowledge the role he played after ascending the throne. Way back when I was a teenager, I met him once in Cape Town and asked for his autograph. He gleefully signed, patted my shoulder, shook my hand and wished me all the best.

Don't worry, I also cant see the need to spend such an amount of money on this or SONA, it is ridiculous. That money should be spent on service delivery.

After Zuma was booted out, Ramaphosa was sworn in by Mogoeng Mogoeng in a back room (of parliament or the Union Buildings, not sure) and it was televised live for the public. So all legal procedure followed. Must have cost peanuts, they could have repeated the same.

I am all for tradition and inviting public participation, but these are tough times.

Accidents happen
