Ramaphosa Inauguration 2019

Good grief, this bunch knows how to waste time and money. They’ve just all jetted back from Cape Town where they had the MP swearing in and vote for president. Now that the inauguration extravaganza is over, they’ll shortly all be jetting back for the opening of parliament. What a monumental waste. They could just have well had the swearing in, election of the president, inauguration and opening of parliament all in one session in parliament. Now that would have set the tone for the new administration.

I agree but knowing our crowd here I am sure they would still find something to complain about. Where there's a will there's a way.

After the Al-Bashir episode I'm convinced that Africans suffer from Schadenfreude. Far from supporting other Africans they actually take pleasure in seeing them suffer. Maybe it makes then feel superior or better that they don't live in the biggest sh!thole in this continent?

It's not even that bad to me. Wind can also be unpredictable + let's face it. The whole country watching you... Who wouldn't be nervous. Glad he is ok. His mates won't let this slide though

Seems like one of those cheers where people are just cheering because others are. Then some people realize it's a white man and start booing and the boos start taking over the cheers.

Way back when I was a teenager, I met him once in Cape Town and asked for his autograph. He gleefully signed, patted my shoulder, shook my hand and wished me all the best.

i see him quite often, he lives very close to me.
he's probably the only ex-president that has no need for a blue light motorcade.

just him + driver and 1 bodyguard that travel in a single mercedes - no other vehicles

who are compelled to spend to the max at every opportunity

a positive reception (SURPRISINGLY) is exactly what he initially got when i was watching the live transmission - which clearly, you never did.
this is why i was commenting as each person arrived one after the other.
