President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane from the office of the Public Protector.

Mkhwebane was suspended effective from 9 June 2022, the presidency said in a statement on Thursday.

"Section 194(3) (a) of the Constitution provides that the President may suspend the Public Protector (or any member of a Chapter 9 institution) at any time after the start of proceedings by a committee of the National Assembly for [their] removal”.

"Advocate Mkhwebane will remain suspended until the section 194 process in the National Assembly has been completed'," Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said.

The deputy public protector will perform the functions of the office in her place.

How long ago did these proceedings start? It sure is a rumble in the ANC.

Wait what!? This is all too suspicious, she was very much useless but he kept her around regardless, now that his Phala Phala millions is up for investigation he immediately suspends her from office

The timing is super suspicious.

Seeing that she wanted to investigate the millions of dollars at his ranch it is no surprise.

The ANC war on South Africa continues.

Not really, you do know there is a process to appoint and to remove the PP and it was followed to the letter until now, right? Maybe you can take some time to familiarize yourself with how we got to this point then you will see it wasn't some knee-jerk reaction.

Let's hope they finally get their comeuppance in 2024 then...I will take another few years of this infighting if the pay-off later down the line is the ANC in opposition...

Are you really going to argue that the timing is not suspicious? Why now? And not a few weeks ago?
