Hi forum readers.

Im currently experiencing random and unexplainable Blue screens of Death (BSOD's).

The problem is that my computer is stable watching movies or playing low graphic games like Freelancer, but as soon as I start someting more demanding like Rage or Skyrim, the game starts, i load my saved game and then screen goes blank and i hear the unforgettable sound of a BSOD. Start pc up and receive an error of BSOD 116.

I have updated my nVidia graphics card to the latest driver available for it, i've switch back to an older driver version several times but noting has changed. I have even formatted my computer from its original win7 pro 64bit to a win7 ultimate 64bit.
Sometimes I can play the above mentioned games for hours and no BSOD's...

MY system is Self built and specs are: ASUS Rampage 3 Extreme, Intel Core i7 960, 6GB DDR3 1600Mhz gaming RAM and Gainward nVidia GeForce GTX 580, 950 Watt PSU, Win7 Ultimate 64Bit.

If someone would be kind enough to help me, I will really appreciate it. :)

An old PC of mine also turned off while playing games, it was due to the CPU not being cooled correctly, what are your CPU temps or possibly GPU temps?

Old PC of mine was also doing this cos there was a flake of thermal paste over one of the CPU contacts. i discovered this when i unseated the CPU.. and after a good blow and clean.. properly reseating it and making sure the fan was on properly... it all worked perfectly.

Otherwise you could have faulty memory. Run a RAM test.

I seem to have fixed the BSOD error!

Didn't remove cpu heatsink but took out my graphics card and BIOS battery for 5min.
Also took out a stick of 2GB RAM to get 4GB. Re-installed my GPU and BIOS battery and booted system. Runs 100% on 4GB and didn't blue screen at all after running all of the games and apps that made it crash before. Ran the system for 5hours and 100% stability.
Added my remaining 2GB RAM, restarted and and ran Rage without failing once.

Thanks for the support and will submit another thread if i get any other problems
